Extension of the temporary ban of drone operations for the Griffin project
Drone operations are prohibited in the ‘Griffin’ geographical zone, which has the following dimensions:
1° vertical limits: from the ground to a height of 200 m ;
2° lateral limits: a strip of 800 metres on either side of the UAS trajectory, as specified in the appendix to these regulations.
This geographical area may be activated for specific slots from 15 February 2025 to 30 September 2025 by the Civil Aviation Authority at the request of Luxembourg Air Ambulance S.A..
UAS flights are prohibited in this geographical area when it is activated, with the exception of Luxembourg Air Ambulance S.A. drones.
This prohibition shall not apply to the following specific operations carried out in the public interest:
- military, police and customs missions;
- traffic surveillance and pursuits;
- search and rescue;
- medical flights;
- evacuations;
- fire-fighting.
However, it is required that prior coordination with Luxembourg Air Ambulance S.A. be carried out for these operations.
