Working visit of Xavier Bettel to Dublin

Prime Minister Xavier Bettel traveled for a working visit to Dublin, Ireland, on March 5, 2018.

Today, 5th of March 2018, the Prime Minister had a meeting with the Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar. The counterparts discussed about the bilateral relations between the two countries, but also about the future of the European Union and particularly Brexit.

At this meeting, the Prime Minister stated "within the framework of Brexit, Ireland and Luxembourg will have to join forces and consult each other to ensure that the framework for future relations between the European Union and the United Kingdom will be compatible with the global needs of our industries, especially in the area of ​​services ".

Accompanied by a Luxembourg economic and financial delegation, Xavier Bettel participated in a meeting with the private sector. This exchange contributed to the strengthening of  economic and financial exchanges between Ireland and Luxembourg and allowed the Prime minister to hear the views of the private sector on Brexit. During this exchange, Xavier Bettel underlined: "it is important to listen to the private sector regarding the impact of Brexit in order to avoid as much as possible the negative impacts of Brexit".
