The 14th of March 2018, Prime minister Xavier Bettel had a meeting with his British counterpart, Theresa May, at 10 Downing Street. The two prime ministers discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as European and international politics.

During the meeting, Xavier Bettel stated that "The United Kingdom and Luxembourg have been close partners in the past. And we shall be close partners in the future. Due to Brexit, it is obvious that the relationship cannot remain the same in nature as it was before.” He also underlined that  “I would not like to see a United Kingdom which is drifting away from the European continent”.

Xavier Bettel also pointed out that the objective and the challenge of Brexit negotiations will be to identify a balanced solution that respects the interests and sovereignty of all parties: "We need a solution that maintains a level playing field and ensures that the EU and the United Kingdom continue to be at the forefront of international norms and standards. "

During his working visit in London, Xavier Bettel also met several British economic decision-makers to hear their point of view regarding the Brexit.
