Biography

Serge Wilmes was born on 6 May 1982 in Luxembourg.

Education and qualifications

After obtaining a first degree in history from the University of Nancy II, Serge Wilmes obtained a master's degree in contemporary European history from the University of Luxembourg in 2006.

Governmental posts

Following the legislative elections of 8 October 2023, Serge Wilmes was appointed Minister of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity and Minister for the Civil Service on 17 November 2023 in the coalition government between the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) and the Democratic Party (DP).

Other political posts

From 2008 to 2011, Serge Wilmes was parliamentary advisor to the Christian Social People's Party group (CSV). After being elected president of the Christian Social Youth (CSJ) in 2008, Serge Wilmes became president of the CSV Stad Lëtzebuerg in 2016. From 2017 to 2023, he was first alderman of the City of Luxembourg, in charge of urban development, public spaces, architecture, green spaces/forests and environment and climate. From 2011 to 2023, Serge Wilmes was deputy for the Centre district.
