Claude Haagen, Minister of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development, welcomed the new Ambassador of the United States of America, H.E. Thomas M. Barrett, on Tuesday, 29 March 2022, as part of his inauguration.
The very cordial meeting focused on current issues related to the war in Ukraine, soaring energy and fertiliser prices, and the destabilisation of agricultural markets and food security. The exchange of views also covered the orientations of Luxembourg agriculture, notably in the context of the new Common Agricultural Policy (2023-2027).
Claude Haagen and Thomas M. Barrett intend to continue the excellent and long-standing relations between the United States and the Grand Duchy. According to Claude Haagen, these are particularly valuable in this period of crisis.
