The conference aimed to bring together interested parties from all over Europe that would like to know more about the opportunities and challenges that arise with the transposition of the NIS 2 directive into national law. In the spirit of the historic Benelux format as a catalyst of the European integration process, the NISDUC format was created as a platform to allow shared best practices between member states to emerge and foster the constitution of a community of European users which can share their knowledge and challenges in implementing the directive.

In this sense, a broad variety of keynotes and sector specific sessions were organised to spark reflection and conversation on the future implementation of the NIS2 Directive in the European Union. This year’s conference put a special emphasis on the topics of cooperation and mutual assistance between NIS authorities and board room governance and accountability with dedicated panel discussions, featuring a variety of industry professionals.

The Minister of Justice and Security of the Netherlands, Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration, Public Enterprises, Telecommunication and the Postal Services of Belgium, Petra De Sutter, were special guests that addressed the public. Their appearance underlined the relevance of cybersecurity in their talks and highlighted the fact that NIS 2 renders it a transversal subject rather than an exclusive concern of the IT department.

In his closing remarks, the director of the ILR, Mr Luc Tapella, announced the NISDUC conference will be hosted in Luxembourg in 2025.
