Stéphanie Obertin was born on 13 May 1974 in Luxembourg.
After completing her secondary school studies in mathematics at the Lycée Michel Rodange, Stéphanie Obertin went on to study general medicine at the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg and then at the Université Henri Poincaré in Nancy. In 2006, she obtained her doctorate in medicine, with a qualification in general medicine.
Stéphanie Obertin, Minister for Research and Higher Education, took part in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) ministerial meeting on science and technology policy, which was held at the OECD headquarters in Paris on 23 and 24 April 2024.
Following a DDoS (distributed denial of service) cyber attack aimed at preventing access to several Luxembourg websites, a crisis unit was convened in the afternoon, chaired by the Minister for Digitalisation, Stéphanie Obertin.
Since the morning of 21 March 2024, several government websites have been the target of a cyber DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack. A DDOS attack consists of saturating the computer resources of targets.
On 18 March 2024, Yuriko Backes, Minister of Defence, Lex Delles, Minister of the Economy, SME, Energy and Tourism, and Stéphanie Obertin, Minister for Research and Higher Education, launched a joint call for research and development (R&D) projects in the field of defence.
