Every year, 4 March marks World Obesity Day. On this occasion, the Ministry of Health and Social Security wishes to highlight the initiatives and concrete actions taken by the various players in Luxembourg who are actively involved in the fight against obesity, while reminding people who need assistance that they are not alone.

To mark International Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Awareness Day, the Health Directorate is launching a national survey to assess HPV vaccination coverage among young people aged 9 to 20.

March, known as Blue March, is a month dedicated to colorectal cancer prevention and screening. Approximately 220,000 people in Europe are diagnosed with colorectal cancer every year, and the number is increasing. In Luxembourg, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths, but if detected early, it can be cured in 9 out of 10 cases. Screening therefore plays an essential role.

On Monday 4 March 2024, the government will continue to implement its strategy for testing the warning and information system for the population by carrying out monthly tests of the siren network and the GouvAlert mobile application.
