The agreement on telework concluded with Germany due to the COVID 19 pandemic will remain applicable at least until March 31 2022, the competent authorities from Luxembourg and Germany decided. The agreement provides that the working days that cross-border workers spend in their home offices only because of the measures to combat the Covid 19 pandemic will be considered as working days spent in the contracting state where the cross-border workers would have carried out their activities without the measures to combat the Covid 19 pandemic. The agreement mainly affects the approximately 50,000 commuters from Germany who work in Luxembourg.
Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna comments: "I am very happy about the extension of the agreement with our German neighbours and thank the German government for the cooperation during the COVID-19 crisis. The extension until March 31 2022 continues to provide German commuters and their Luxembourg employers with the necessary flexibility and planning security in the fight against the pandemic."
