The government declared a period of national mourning
Following the death of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Jean, the Government Council met on Tuesday, 23 April 2019, for an extraordinary meeting chaired by Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.
The government observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the deceased.
The government proclaimed that national mourning will take place until Saturday, 4 May, at 6.00 p.m.
During the period of national mourning, flags will be flown at half-mast on public buildings and grounds.
A government statement will be inserted in the Official Journal of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
