National Day 2021
For the public celebration of the birthday of HRH the Grand Duke, an official ceremony took place on 23 June at the National monument of Luxembourgish solidarity ("Kanounenhiwwel"). It brought together the Head of State, members of government, members of Parliament, representatives of the College of Aldermen of Luxembourg City, the Council of State, the Judiciary as well as the dean of the diplomatic corps accredited to Luxembourg's Head of State, the Chief of Staff of the Luxembourg army and the Director General of the Grand Ducal Police.
On his arrival at 11 a.m. at the Boulevard F.D. Roosevelt, H.R.H. the Grand Duke was welcomed by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Fernand Etgen, by the Prime Minister and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, and by the Mayor of Luxembourg City, Lydie Polfer.
The programme of this ceremony included speeches by HRH the Grand Duke, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Fernand Etgen, and the Prime Minister and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel.
After the official ceremony, the traditional cannon blast salute of 21 cannon blasts took place at the Fetschenhaff.
