COVID-19 booster vaccination and primary vaccination of homeless people

Following the launch of the first vaccination campaigns for the homeless on 1 and 2 June 2021 and on 16, 19 and 20 July on the premises of the "Wanteraktioun", a "booster" and primary vaccination campaign was organised on 13 and 15 December 2021. This campaign was organised by the mobile vaccination teams of the National Health Directorate, and the Ministry of Family Affairs, Integration and the Greater Region, in close cooperation with associations working in the field of homelessness.

During these 2 days, 102 people were registered to get vaccinated, of which 56 people received a first dose of BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna or Janssen (Johnson&Johnson) vaccines. 36 people received a second dose and 10 people received a third dose of BioNTech/Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. 

In addition, 9 people makde use of this opportunity to get vaccinated against the flu. 

For these interventions, and with the aim of getting closer to people in great precariousness, the mobile teams went to the night shelter "Abrigado" in Bonnevoie, to the premises of “Wanteraktioun” at the Findel and in the south of the country to the parish house in Esch-sur-Alzette.

Each mobile vaccination team consisted of a medical officer as team leader and an administrative and logistics assistant from the Luxembourg Army, the CGDIS or the Customs and Excise Agency.
