The "Senioresécherheetsberoder" are volunteers who, after having undergone specific training by the prevention service of the Grand Ducal Police, inform and sensitise other senior citizens on simple measures to protect themselves against frauds, aggression, theft or burglary.

In her speech, Corinne Cahen thanked and congratulated the volunteers for their commitment and dedication. Well-trained, they are now able to pass on their knowledge at conferences throughout the Grand Duchy and to support the police in their efforts to prevent crime against the elderly. The minister emphasised that these volunteers, in keeping with the principle of "seniors for seniors, active for more security", help to strengthen the feeling of security and the quality of life of other seniors. They also help to prevent the social isolation of the elderly, a risk that has been increased by the health crisis.

The training was organised by the Grand Ducal Police, in collaboration with the Ministry of Family Affairs, Integration and the Greater Region and the ASBL Senioresécherheetsberoder. It took place over 12 weeks and covered practical topics such as pickpocketing and theft, frauds and hawking, burglary prevention, self-defence, road safety for seniors, internet safety, as well as civic courage and self-assertion.
