Courtesy visit by the Republic of Korea's Minister for Patriots and Veterans, Minshik Park
At the invitation of the Prime Minister, Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, the Minister for Patriots and Veterans of the Republic of Korea, Minshik Park, paid a courtesy visit to Luxembourg on 13 September 2023. As a reminder, Xavier Bettel visited the Republic of Korea from 25 to 27 July 2023 to mark the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Korean War Armistice (1950-1953), accompanied by Korean War veteran Léon Moyen.
At the invitation of the Prime Minister, Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, the Minister for Patriots and Veterans of the Republic of Korea, Minshik Park, paid a courtesy visit to Luxembourg on 13 September 2023. As a reminder, Xavier Bettel visited the Republic of Korea from 25 to 27 July 2023 to mark the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Korean War Armistice (1950-1953), accompanied by Korean War veteran Léon Moyen. Minshik Park was welcomed by the Prime Minister, Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, for a meeting at the Hôtel Saint-Maximin. They discussed the historical links between Luxembourg and the Republic of Korea, bilateral relations and current international affairs. The Head of Government and the Korean Minister for Patriots and Veterans then laid a wreath of flowers at the 'Gëlle Fra' Memorial on the occasion of this commemorative day in memory of the Luxembourg volunteers and UN soldiers who served in Korea. The ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Fernand Etgen, the Minister of Defence, François Bausch, and two Luxembourg veterans, Elie Kryloff and Jean-Michel Clement. In the early afternoon, Minshik Park was received in audience by HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke at the Grand Ducal Palace. The South Korean minister also visited the Villa Pauly for a guided tour of the exhibition 'D'Koreaner aus dem Lëtzebuerger Land' (1950-1953). This exhibition, produced by the Diekirch National Museum of Military History, retraces the involvement of Luxembourg volunteers in the Korean War and highlights a key event in the shared history of the two countries.
