Luxembourg Space Week − a week dedicated to space from December 2 to 5, 2024

The Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) announces Luxembourg Space Week, organized from December 2 to 5, 2024 in the heart of the business district, on the premises of the European Convention Center Luxembourg.

This week will be the scene of four events bringing together international experts, entrepreneurs, policy makers, as well as enthusiasts and visionaries, to discuss the latest developments in the field, the future prospects of space exploration and the impact that space can have on Earth.

• 3 December 2024: Newspace Europe
  The latest space developments − cost reduction, miniaturization, better access to space − give space technologies the potential to reshape whole industries and have as much impact on business and society as smartphones or cloud computing.
  The Newspace Europe conference is focusing on new space developments and more specifically on how space businesses and companies can contribute to space-for-earth activities.

• 2 & 3 December 2024: Moon Village Association (MVA) Workshop & Symposium
  The Moon Village Association is a non-governmental organization that aims to promote international collaboration in the exploration and settlement of the Moon. MVA fosters cooperation between government space agencies, commercial space entities, and academia to advance humanity's presence on the Moon.

• ESA Space for Inspiration − Conference on Commercial Space Exploration
  Space for Inspiration is a dynamic annual B2B event that brings together trailblazing entrepreneurs, visionaries, innovators, and investors driving the future of commercial space exploration. This year's program will include sessions on low Earth orbit (LEO) and the lunar economy, as well as panels on space resources.

• European Interstellar Symposium
  The first event of a kind in Europe, dedicated to ambitious long-term missions beyond our solar system. This European Interstellar Symposium aims to bring together an interdisciplinary community and to foster an exchange on various aspects of interstellar travel, including human and robotic exploration, as well as ethics, or potential destinations (including exoplanet research), life support systems, and habitats.

Two general public events will also be organized as part of Luxembourg Space Week:

• 2 December 2024, from 6:30 p.m.: Space Cafe #15 & Science Fiction Authors Night
  Join science fiction authors Matthias Matting, Joshua T. Calvert, and Les Johnson for an evening of science-informed and inspired visioneering of humanity's future in space. Participating in the University of Luxembourg's and Interstellar Research Group's Interstellar Symposium, these best-selling authors will discuss how science fiction inspires scientists and vice versa, and how the incredible technological breakthroughs of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries are shaping our lives as we prepare to once again send humans beyond Earth to the Moon, Mars, and ultimately, to planets circling other stars.

• 3 December 2024, from 6:30 p.m.: Highlight talk − An Enduring Mystery of Astronomy: Can We Find Signs of Life Beyond Earth? by Sara Seager, MIT
  Professor Sara Seager, a Canadian American astrophysicist and planetary scientist, finds inspiration in the vastness of space. Currently the Class of 1941 Professor of Planetary Science, Professor of Physics, and Professor of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Seager pioneered numerous techniques for characterizing exoplanets, revolutionizing our ability to understand these distant worlds.
