Meeting of the Interministerial Drone Assessment Unit

The Drone Assessment Cell is continuing its monitoring and analysis activities and took stock of the situation on the morning of 20 September 2026. The competent ministers are being informed of developments on a continuous basis.

To strengthen airspace monitoring and analysis capabilities, additional detection assets have been deployed, including resources provided by foreign partners. These supplementary systems have contributed to further consolidating airspace surveillance and contributed to a better assessment of the situation by the competent authorities.

During the evening of 19 September, the Grand Ducal Police received several reports concerning the suspected presence of drones within national airspace. These reports were examined and verified by the competent services.

Following verifications, no situation required an operational intervention by the authorities, because none of the observed activities was deemed likely to disrupt public order, public safety, or the safe conduct of air operations. In many cases, the reported observations corresponded to the navigation lights of other aircraft operating within the relevant airspace.

The Drone Assessment Cell continues to work closely with all national and international partners to ensure continuous monitoring of the situation and to guarantee an appropriate response to any potential incident.

The Government continues to monitor developments closely and remains committed to maintaining public safety and public order.
