Italy and Luxembourg extend Memorandum on space cooperation
At the occasion of the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) Ruy Pinto, CEO of the Luxembourg Space Agency, and Ambassador Mario Cospito, Special Commissioner of the Italian Space Agency, signed an extension of the Memorandum of understanding (MoU) initially signed in October 2021 that is serving to catalyze and deepen cooperation between the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Italy in the field of space.
The Memorandum has been extended for 5 additional years and serves as a framework for cooperation, expertise sharing and information exchange between the two agencies. It also aims to strengthen collaboration by identifying projects of common interest, for example in the fields of civil space exploration and sustainable utilization of space resources, science, and technology and applications.
The MoU is further facilitating collaboration between the two countries, academic and research institutes and private sector space companies. It served as a basis for the organization of the economic mission that took place in May 2026 in Turin, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of the Economy Luxembourg, and brought together actors from the space ecosystems of both countries.
