Casting for the disability awareness campaign

The Ministry is producing six video clips on the theme "Wat ass normal?" (What is normal?) for a campaign to raise awareness about disability. For the production of these clips, amateur actresses and actors are sought for a casting on 11 January 2022.

Regardless of gender, age and profession, it is important that applicants have a disability and are not afraid of being in front of the camera. Actors should also be willing to tell their personal story in front of the camera. The casting in front of a professional team will take place in January 2022. Interested people with disabilities can apply until 24 December 2021 at E-Mail-Adresse rpeguet@moskito.lu. The casting will take place on Tuesday 11 January 2022 at the Family Ministry at the following address:

13C, rue de Bitbourg in Luxembourg-Hamm.

1. What is the project about?

The Ministry of the Family is looking for 6 amateur actors/actresses of all ages to represent these 6 profiles:

1. a person with an invisible disability,

2. a visually impaired or blind person,

3. a hearing impaired or deaf person,

4. a person with an intellectual disability,

5. a person on the autism spectrum, and

6. a person with a physical disability.

We therefore ask associations representing persons with disabilities to disseminate this call within their organisations and structures. The aim of this awareness-raising campaign is to change the way people look at disability and to combat prejudice. The dissemination will be partly in public spaces (advertising on buses and trams...), partly on a website and partly in the media.

2. Roles

The campaign consists of six videos and each of the people with disabilities plays a role or even the main role in one of the videos. In a second video, the actors and actresses introduce themselves and may narrate or have narrated an aspect of their personality or everyday life, highlight a talent or special skill, or describe a milestone they have reached or a goal they have achieved. All videos will be available on a dedicated website. On this occasion, any visitor to the website can also register with one of the volunteer organisations listed there.

People of all languages are welcome; the language spoken at the casting, rehearsals and making of the video is Luxembourgish, so a passive understanding of the language would be important.

3. Application

Please send your application with the following information by 24.12.2021 to the e-mail address rpeguet@moskito.lu :

  • Who are you and what distinguishes you?
  • What kind of disability do you have?
  • Short curriculum vitae with details of place of residence, age and current occupation/job (optional).
  • 2-3 photos
  • Contact details (e-mail address, mobile phone number ...).
  • What is your motivation to participate in the casting?

We will carefully review all applications received and may invite you to participate in the casting.

4. Casting

Based on the applications received, the selected candidates will be invited to the casting by name. The casting will last a maximum of 30 minutes and will include an interview with team members and simple, guided improvisations. Unfortunately, applicants who come forward spontaneously will not be able to participate in the casting.

5. Remuneration

This is a voluntary engagement and actors and actresses will therefore not be remunerated.

6. Covid-19

The provisions of the current Covid Act apply to the casting.
