Coverage of natural gas grid costs for residential customers from 1 May 2022

On Wednesday 27 April 2022, the Parliament (Chambre des députés) adopted the draft law on the payment by the government of the costs incurred by the use of natural gas distribution grids. This draft law is part of the measures taken by the government to mitigate the exceptional increase in gas prices due to the international situation.

To help households, the government has decided to cover the costs of natural gas grids for all residential customers from 1 May 2022 until 31 December 2022. The grid costs are part of the total price of gas supply, which, in addition to the grid costs, is composed of the purchase price of the gas itself, as well as taxes.

This measure applies automatically, no further action is required by the consumer.

The Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning has set up a dedicated website to provide further information on the coverage of natural gas grid costs for residential customers: www.subvention-gaz.lu.
