Ministers and high-level representatives from the 38 OECD member and candidate countries met in Luxembourg in November 2022 to reaffirm their shared commitment to defending and strengthening the democratic values that unite them at the Ministerial Meeting on Public Governance, which focused on "Building Trust and Reinforcing Democracy". Participants welcomed the adoption of a package of measures to make democracies more responsive and resilient.

The Ministerial was chaired by Luxembourg and co-chaired by Colombia, France, Lithuania and the United States, and resulted in the adoption of the Luxembourg Declaration on Building Trust and Reinforcing Democracy, including the launch of the platform of the OECD Resource Centre on Disinformation and Misinformation to help governments, the media and civil society organisations improve their individual and joint actions to strengthen information integrity.
Financial support from Luxembourg
The Luxembourg Ministry of Justice has made a financial contribution of €100,000 to the OECD Resource Centre on Disinformation and Misinformation, in addition to the financial contributions or secondment of experts from several other countries.
The Minister of Justice, Sam Tanson, said: "In terms of responses to misinformation, I believe that the most effective tools against these threats to democracies around the world are critical thinking, quality journalism and media literacy. By helping to establish this OECD Resource Centre platform, Luxembourg is contributing to the creation of an effective tool in the fight against misinformation and disinformation"

OECD Public Governance Forum
The Ministerial Meeting was preceded by the OECD Global Forum on Building Trust and Reinforcing Democracy, which was opened by Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. The Global Forum brought together more than 250 stakeholders from government, business, civil society, media and academia from over 70 countries to share their views on key issues and solutions for adapting democracy to the 21st century.
