Respiratory tract infections: Weekly review - 17 to 23 April 2023

The weekly review gives a simplified overview of the evolution of acute respiratory tract infections: including COVID-19 and influenza.

As of today, the weekly press release on respiratory infections will no longer be published. Depending on the evolution of the situation, we will resume the publication of the press release if necessary.

COVID-19

During the week of 17 to 23 April 2023, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 increased to 220 cases, compared to 217 cases the previous week (+1.3%). Among all those who tested positive, 46.8% were re-infected, compared to 46.1% the previous week.

Influenza

For the week of 17 to 23 April 2023, the number of influenza cases reported by laboratories decreased from 101 to 62 cases, a decrease of 38.6% compared to the previous week. Currently the influenza B virus is predominant.
