Two new vocational courses for the 2026/2027 academic year

The Ministry of Education, Children and Youth is continuing to adapt the educational offer to changes in society and the labour market, in order to give young people the best chance of success in their adult lives.

The 2026/2027 academic year will thus see the introduction of two new vocational training programms:

DAP Security and Safety Officer

The Lycée des Arts et Métiers in Luxembourg will offer, starting from the 2026/2027 school year, a new program leading to the Vocational Aptitude Diploma (DAP) as a Security and Safety Officer. The program lasts three years full-time at the school and includes three mandatory internships in companies. It is conducted in German.

The Security and Safety Officer is responsible for protecting people and property. They monitor premises, control access, prevent risks, enforce safety procedures, and respond in the event of incidents. They identify risky situations, reassure the public, and ensure compliance with rules and instructions.

CCP Metalworking Assistant

The Lycée du Nord in Wiltz and the Lycée privé Émile Metz in Luxembourg will offer, from the 2026/2027 school year onward, a new program leading to the Certificate of Professional Competence (CCP) as a Metalworking Assistant. During this three-year vocational training program, students will attend school two days per week and train in a company three days per week under an apprenticeship contract. The program will be conducted in German and French.

This training enables students to learn how to carry out common tasks on metal parts: cutting custom pieces, preparing parts based on sketches or technical drawings, deburring edges, degreasing parts, protecting or covering certain areas, as well as performing simple drilling or brazing tasks, etc. The CCP also allows assistants to support professionals during the pre-assembly of parts in the workshop and the final assembly at the client's site, as well as to take part in logistics, load handling, and securing the work area.

These two new programs will complement the launch of seven "1re DAP" training courses, which will be offered from 2026/2027 and will allow holders of a secondary school leaving diploma (diplôme de fin d'études secondaires classiques ou générales) or a technician's diploma (or equivalent) to follow a one-year vocational training program leading to the Vocational Aptitude Diploma (diplôme d’aptitude professionnelle - DAP).
