Luxembourg launches its first Women's Health Week

On the occasion of International Women's Health Day, celebrated on 28 May, the Ministry of Health and Social Security is launching the first edition of Women's Health Week in Luxembourg, organised from 1 to 7 June 2026.

This new national initiative aims to better inform, raise awareness and mobilise around women-specific health issues. It also seeks to help break the taboos that still surround many aspects of women's health, which are too often trivialised, underdiagnosed or insufficiently taken into account.

"Too often, women's health is still not recognised for its true importance. With this first Women's Health Week, we are sending a strong message: speaking openly about women's health, strengthening prevention and improving access to information," said Martine Deprez, Minister of Health and Social Security.

A week dedicated to awareness, prevention and dialogue

Throughout the week, numerous partners – associations, public institutions and healthcare professionals – will offer a varied programme across the country, including conferences, workshops, awareness-raising activities, cultural events and consultations.

The aim is to promote a comprehensive, inclusive and accessible approach to women's health by creating opportunities for dialogue between experts, healthcare professionals and members of the public.

Endometriosis and menopause: two conferences open to the public

As part of this week, the Ministry of Health and Social Security will organise two conferences on 6 June 2026 at the National School of Health.

The conferences will focus on two major women's health issues: endometriosis and menopause. They will help improve understanding of these issues, challenge certain misconceptions and encourage dialogue with specialists.

Mobilising healthcare professionals

Several events will be organised by theHealth Directorate to enable healthcare professionals to benefit from the expertise of specialists. The aim is also to improve understanding of gender-specific aspects in the diagnosis and treatment of certain conditions, as well as issues that are still too often underestimated or insufficiently recognised in clinical practice.

Two lunchtime talks will be held on 3 and 4 June 2026, from 12 noon to 1.30 pm. The first will focus on menopause, perimenopause and cardiovascular diseases in women; the second will address endometriosis, a common chronic gynaecological condition that nevertheless remains widely underdiagnosed.

All healthcare professionals are encouraged to relay this initiative to their patients and to direct them towards the activities organised as part of Women's Health Week.

A national campaign to highlight symptoms that are too often trivialised

Women's Health Week will be accompanied by a multichannel communication campaign aimed at raising public awareness of symptoms affecting women that are still too often minimised or ignored.

The campaign will include posters and visual materials, social media content, radio adverts, personal testimonies and the distribution of awareness-raising materials.

With this first edition, Luxembourg is taking an important step towards strengthening prevention, improving information and better recognising women’s specific health needs.

Minister Martine Deprez invites the entire population to take part in the events organised from 1 to 7 June 2026, as well as in the activities offered beyond this week, and to help make women's health a visible, acknowledged and fully recognised issue.
