From Saturday 2 January 2021, in addition to PCR tests, rapid antigen tests will be offered to all passengers arriving at Luxembourg airport. The tests are mainly aimed at travellers returning from holiday destinations.

Several new legal and regulatory provisions applying directly to citizens will enter into force in 2021. Below is an overview of the main changes that will directly impact citizens. This list is not exhaustive.

During the week from 21 to 27 December, including the holidays, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has considerably decreased from 2,681 to 1,267 people (-53%), as have the number of identified contacts decreased from 8,620 in the previous week to 3,207 (-63%).

The temporary suspension of scheduled passenger flights from the United Kingdom and departing from the Grand Duchy to the United Kingdom is lifted as of this Wednesday, 23 December 2020 at midnight.

During the week from 14 to 20 December, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has decreased from 3.422 to 2.681 people (-22%), while the number of identified contacts has not changed significantly, with 8.635 cases, compared to 8.861 (-2%) in the previous week.

On this 18th of December 2020, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel launched the Luxembourg equivalent of the highly acclaimed "Elements of AI” online course for students, civil servants, businesses and the global community, thanks to the Finnish government's leadership in digital skills.

During the week of 7 to 13 December, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has slightly decreased to 3,422 cases, compared to 3,797 cases during the previous week (-11%) and the number of identified contacts has also slightly decreased and is at 8,861 (-27%).

On the occasion of a visit to the Technoport in Foetz, the Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, signed an agreement on 16 December 2020 with Molecular Plasma Group (MPG) to co-finance the "Virucidal" project for the development and production of innovative surgical masks with virucidal properties.

On 11 December 2020, Franz Fayot, Minister of the Economy, visited Goodyear's new tire facility in Dudelange to see the progress of the tire company's $77 million investment in Luxembourg. Franz Fayot was shown the innovative production process in this highly automated facility before the plant's official opening planned in spring 2021.

Cleantech is one of the priority sectors of Luxembourg's data-driven innovation strategy, and the Korean government is actively supporting companies in the fields of smart mobility and green technologies.

During the week of 30 November to 6 December, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has slightly increased to 3,797 cases, compared to 3,565 cases during the previous week (+7%), while the number of identified contacts has slightly decreased and is at 10,708 (-36%).

In the framework of the international consultation Luxembourg in Transition, the Department of Spatial Planning of the Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning, in collaboration with the TNS-Ilres institute, plans to set up a Citizens' Committee to accompany the work of the consultation from January to December 2021.
