National Day 2020

For the public celebration of the birthday of HRH the Grand Duke, an official ceremony will take place on 23 June at the National monument of Luxembourgish solidarity ("Kanounenhiwwel"). It will bring together the Head of State, members of government, deputies, representatives of the College of Aldermen and the Municipal Council of Luxembourg City, the Council of State, the Judiciary as well as the dean of the diplomatic corps accredited to Luxembourg's Head of State, the Chief of Staff of the Luxembourg army and the Director General of the Grand Ducal Police.

On his arrival at 11 a.m. at the Boulevard F.D. ​ Roosevelt, H.R.H. the Grand Duke will be welcomed by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Fernand Etgen, by the Prime Minister and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, and by the Mayor of Luxembourg City, Lydie Polfer.

The programme of this ceremony will include speeches by H.R.H. the Grand Duke, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Fernand Etgen, and the Prime Minister and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel.

Musical entertainment will be provided by an ensemble of the Military Band.

After the official ceremony, the traditional cannon blast salute of 21 cannon blasts will take place at the Fetschenhaff.
