Deontology committee

Members of the Government and the deputy councillors to the Governor commit to adhering to the rules of deontological conduct outlined in the Codes of deontological conduct in Appendices D and F of the Government's internal regulation, both during and after their term of office.

In accordance with Chapter 2 of Appendix D, a deontology committee is established to enforce the rules of deontological conduct. This committee comprises at least three members selected from former government officials, members of Parliament, judges, State councillors, or civil servants who have concluded their mandates or functions. Committee members are appointed for a single, non-renewable term of five years.

The duties of the deontology committee, which include issuing opinions (public or confidential), recommendations, and statements on the interpretation and application of ethical rules by government members and their advisers, are outlined in the government's internal regulations:

The committee is assisted in its functions by a secretariat.
