Luxembourg, November 22nd, 2002

Dear Prime Minister,

On behalf of the Luxembourg government and the people of Luxembourg, I should like to express my sincere condolences for the sudden passing away of His Imperial Highness Prince Takamado. I had the privilege to meet H.I.H. Prince Takamado personally on the occasion of my visit to Japan in April of 1997 and had witnessed his outstanding commitment towards international cooperation.

His tireless work to bring countries and people closer together will never be forgotten and illustrates the especially close ties which exist between the grand-ducal family of Luxembourg and the imperial family of Japan, as well as on the excellent bilateral relationship between our two countries.

With my deepest sympathy,

Jean-Claude Juncker
Prime Minister

His Excellency Mr Junichiro Koizumi
Prime Minister of Japan
Tokyo
