Lettre de condoléances du Premier ministre Jean-Claude Juncker au Secrétaire général des Nations unies Kofi Annan à l'occasion de l'attentat contre le quartier général des Nations unies à Bagdad

Luxembourg, 19th August 2003

Excellency,

I am in great distress over the terrible attack on the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad which has cost the life of  many UN employees including the UN’s special envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello. I condemn this cowardly act aimed at undermining the efforts of the U.N. in Iraq in the strongest possible terms.

On behalf of the Government of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and in my very personal name, I would like to convey to you my sincerest condolences and express my deepest sympathy to the families of the victims. To those who have been injured, I am sending my good wishes for a prompt recovery.

Yours very sincerely,

Jean-Claude Juncker
Prime Minister

His Excellency
Mr. Kofi Annan
Secretary General of the United Nations
New York
