It is with great joy that I learnt today that you have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2007, jointly with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Let me express to you my heartfelt congratulations in the name of the Luxembourg Government and on my own behalf.
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our generation, and your tireless work in this area has inspired many around the world. I am convinced that this award will encourage those who are working to tackle this problem with a united worldwide approach and give a much-needed boost to the upcoming negotiations on setting up a global framework to fight climate change.
